Kasatochi Volcano, July 19, 2008
On August 7, just 19 days after Josh, Melinda, and I visited the island, Kasatochi experienced a major, explosive eruption. It was its first eruption in recorded history. It caused the cancellation of more than 30 airline flights. It looks like all the plant and animal life on the island were destroyed. (all photos of the island)-
Melinda and Josh. We climbed to the rim of Kasatochi and walked around a bit.

The lake at the bottom of Kasatochi is salt water. Three weeks after we were there, the volcano erupted. That lake is gone
