Allen McCart 
General Notes
Birth date and place from 1880 census of Wayne Co., IA. Same source says that both his parents were born in Ireland.
Since Margaret Dean Moore McCart is listed on the 1885 census as Margaret Moore, widow, it appears that Allen is no longer present. A reference to him in _The Pioneer McCart Family_, by Ralph Davison (1972) as cited by Sandra Childs (an e-mail contact) says that when Tommy (a son from his previous marriage) was about 8 years old (so about 1881) Allen was diagnosed with Tuberculosis and went back to Philadelphia where he died soon after. Other information cited from this source by Sandra Childs has been incorrect or inexact, but this may be true since it explains certain otherwise unexplained matters in Margaret's life.
