The C-5 galaxy is one of the worlds largest aircraft. It uses four high-bypass
ratio turbofan engines. The main cargo compartment was 19 feet wide and 121 feet long. It was designed to
carry big equipment such as the M-60 heavy tank, or a CH-47 Chinook helicopter. The nose opens in a
visor-fashion above the cockpit and the aft ramp has clam shell doors to allow straight-through loading and
unloading of vehicles.
