November 14, 2000
Dear Valued
Customer:
It is with
deep regret that we have to inform you that ShopLink.com has ceased
operations effective immediately. We will no longer be in a position to
receive or deliver orders from Tuesday, November 14, 2000. Please
read the following important information.
We will
make every effort, although there can be no guarantee, to ensure that
any clothing, footwear or film you may have sent to us for processing
will be made available to you through the business cessation process.
At the bottom of this letter are the names and addresses of our
nominated service
vendors for dry cleaning, shoe repair, and film processing,
who have been made aware that certain ShopLink.com customers may
contact them directly. We would encourage you to contact these vendors
at your convenience to recover your property.
Additionally, following the anticipated filing of liquidation
proceedings, you should be receiving a note from the court with the
Trustee's name and telephone number so that you can arrange recovery
of your property from our Product Consolidation Centers should your
property be located there.
No
pre-booked orders placed with us from the Holiday Catalogue will be
delivered or billed. You will only be billed for orders delivered to
your home up until November 14, 2000.
No
ShopLink.com Associates will be available to handle your queries from
November 14, 2000. We would like to
apologize for the abrupt nature of the cancellation of our service to
you. General financial market conditions have not been favorable to
business-to-consumer e-commerce companies irrespective of their current
performance and long-term value. We had no choice but to close the
business.
On behalf of
all of the ShopLink.com Associates, I would like to thank you for your
patronage to our service. Our Associates have strived to provide you
with a level of customer satisfaction and operational consistency
unparalleled in grocery retailing of any type. As Chairman and CEO, it
has been a pleasure and honor to lead this Company, and I believe we
have been a leader in the evolution of on-line grocery
retailing.
As a security
precaution, we would strongly suggest that you alter any garage door
access codes that have been communicated to us for delivery purposes,
and remove any keys that may be stored in lockboxes. The Trustee who is
appointed to handle the closure of our business following our bankruptcy
filing may be in touch with you to discuss the collection of any totes
you may have in your possession. For those Gold customers, the Trustee
for the Estate may well contact you to discuss the return of the
ShopLink.com refrigerator and racking system installed at your home.
Finally, on behalf of all the ShopLink.com Associates, I would like to
apologize for any inconvenience we have created through this
announcement.
Yours
sincerely,
John R.
Icke Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
