Mary was born about 1868 in Hot Springs County, Arkansas.  Mary's father was Joseph Banford and her mother was Ida A Hite.  Her maternal grandparents were William Hite and Mary. She had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Frank, Peyton, Ida, Lily, Grace and Carrie.
