Refil was born about 0796 in Sweden.  Refil's father was Bjorn (Ironside) Ragnarsson.  His paternal grandfather was King Ragnar "Lodbrok" Sigurdsson of Denmark. He had a brother named Gorm.  He was the older of the two children.  Refil is no longer alive.
