Gaucher was born in Chatillion-sur-Marne, France.  Gaucher's father was Henri I and his mother was Ermengarde de Montjay.  His paternal grandparents were Gaucher I and Mahaud de Louvaine; his maternal grandfather was Alberic de Montjay.  He was an only child.  He died in 1147.
