Joseph was born about 1700 in Ibersheim, Germany.  Joseph's father was Heinrich Gochenauer.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Gochenauer and Margretha Peter.  He was an only child.  He died in January 1764 in Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
