Governor Thomas Hinckley 
Thomas was born on March 19th, 1620 in Hawkhurst, Kent. Thomas' father was Samuel Hinckley and his mother was Sarah Soole. His maternal grandparents were Thomas Soule and Mary Iddenden. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Hinckley, Samuel, John, Susanna, Sarah, Mary and Elizabeth. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 85 on April 25th, 1705 in Barnstable, Massachusetts. He was buried in Lothrop Hill Cemetery, Barnstable.1 General Notes
Thomas Hinckley was the governor of the Plymouth Colony and held several other governmental positions during his lifetime, including that of a representative, a deputy, magistrate, and assistant, among others. A monument, created in 1829 at the Lothrop Hill cemetery in Barnstable, Massachusetts, attests to his "piety, usefulness and agency in the public transactions of his time."
Hinckley was born in England and migrated to Scituate with his parents, Samuel and Sarah Hinckley, in 1635. In 1639, he moved from Scituate to Barnstable.
