Jacob was born in 1532 in Dordrecht, Zuid Province, Netherlands.  Jacob's father was Adriaen Gerardsz Kool and his mother was Lucretta Jacobs Oem.  His maternal grandfather was Jacob Oem.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 64 on September 23rd, 1596.
