Lettice was born about 1758 in Greenbrier, Virginia.  Lettice's father was Archer Matthews and her mother was Letitia McClenechan.  Her paternal grandparents were John Matthews and Betsy Ann Archer; her maternal grandparents were Robert McClenechan and Sarah Breckenridge.  She was an only child.  She died on October 30th, 1843 in Knox County, Tennessee.  She was buried in Tillery Cemetery, Dante, Tennessee.
