William I, known as the Conqueror, was born on October 14th, 1024 in Falaise, Calvados, France.  The Conqueror's father was Robert I of Normandy, 6th Duc de Normandie and his mother was Arlette (Herleve) Falaise.  His paternal grandparents were Richard (the Good) of Normandy II and Judith of Brittany; his maternal grandparents were Fulburt de Falaise and Doda. He had a brother named Adeliza. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Robert and Emma.  He died at the age of 62 on September 9th, 1087 in Hermenbraville, France.

‌the Conqueror and Matilda were married about 1050 in Castle of Angi, Normandy, France.  They had four sons and five daughters, named Robert, Richard, Rufus, Henry, Adeliza, Cecilia, Adela, Agatha and Constance.
