Hermand was born on November 9th, 1886 in Barton County, Missouri.  Hermand's mother was Josephine Frashier. He had a sister named Emma.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 31 in 1917 in Missouri.  He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Joplin, Missouri.
