Ranulph de Gernon, 2nd Earl of Chester 
Ranulph was born in 1100. Ranulph's father was Ranulph III de Meschines and his mother was Lucy. His paternal grandparents were Count Ranulph II de Meschines of Bayeux and Margaret d'Avranches. He had a sister named Adeliza. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 53 on December 16th, 1153.General Notes
Ranulph de Gernon held the office of Constable of Lincoln in 1136, by King Stephen. He fought in the Battle of Lincoln on 2 February 1141, against King Stephen. On 29 August 1146 at Northampton, Northamptonshire, England, he was seized at court by King Stephen, in return for his part in the Battle of Lincoln.
