William was born about 1370 in Layer Marney and Gibrack in Great Totham, Essex, England.  William's father was Sir Robert de Marney and his mother was Alice le Lacer.  His maternal grandparents were Richard le Lacer and Julian. He had a half-brother named Ingram.  He died on August 21st, 1414.  He was buried in Layer Marney, Essex, England.1 1
