Maud was born before 1110.  Maud's father was Roger le Bigod, 1st Earl of Norfolk and her mother was Alice de Tosny.  Her maternal grandfather was William de Tosny, Lord of Belvoir. She had a brother named Hugh.  She was the younger of the two children.
