Pepin, known as the Short, was born in 0714 in Austrasia, France.  The Short's father was Charles ("the Hammer") Martel and his mother was Chrotrud (Rotrudis) of Treves.  His paternal grandparents were Pepin of Herstal II and Alpaide of Aupois Concubine; his maternal grandparents were St Leutwinus of Treves and <Unknown>. He had a brother and a sister, named Carloman and Aude.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 54 on September 24th, 0768 in St. Denis, Paris, Seine, France.
