Flora was born about 1854 in Ohio.1 Flora's father was William M. Ambrose and her mother was Susan. Her paternal grandparents were Jacob Ambrose and Elizabeth. She had three brothers named William, Walter and Charles. She was the second oldest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Judson and Nettie.
