Philadelphia was born on October 26th, 1770 in Spotsylvania County, Virginia.  Philadelphia's father was Edward Herndon and her mother was Lucy Duerson.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Herndon and Elizabeth Stubblefield; her maternal grandparents were Thomas Duerson and Hannah Brock. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, William, Joseph, Sarah and Lucy.  She was the third youngest of the six children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Edward, Mary and Hannah.  She died at the age of 59 on September 23rd, 1830 in Lexington, Kentucky.  She was buried in Old Episcopal Cemetery on 3rd St., Lexington, Kentucky.
