William, known as the Lion, was born about 1143.  The Lion's father was Henry of Huntingdon, Earl of Huntingdon and his mother was Ada de Warenne.  His paternal grandparents were King David (the Saint) of Scotland I and Maud of Northumberland; his maternal grandparents were William de Warenne II, 2nd Earl of Surrey and Elizabeth de Vermandois. He had two brothers and four sisters, named the Maiden, David, Margaret, Isabella, Matilda and Ada.  He died on December 4th, 1214.
