The Nanhai. You can see the way the ship moves the water -- the water level looks higher in front of the ship.

A waterfall. It was nice to be able to leave the bikes out. Usually we have to pack them somewhere because of the ocean waves.

We stopped our ascent of the Columbia here. The bridge was low and the water was swift.

The Hood River Bridge requires 24 hour advance notice before they raise it for a boat. We didn't know that, but they were nice enough to raise it anyway.

This looks pretty flimsy, but it has been there for quite a few years without falling down. They know how to build bridges in Washington.
