Ansbertus was born about 0500 in Moselle, France.  Ansbertus' father was Ferreolus, Senator of Narbonne and his mother was Saint Dode, Abbess of Saint Pierre de Reims.  His paternal grandfather was Tonantius Ferreolus; his maternal grandfather was King Chloderic (the Parricide) of Franks. He had a brother named Agilulf.  He was the older of the two children.
