Gui was born in Chatillion-sur-Marne, France.  Gui's father was Gaucher II and his mother was Ade de Roucy.  His paternal grandparents were Henri I and Ermengarde de Montjay; his maternal grandparents were Hugues de Roucy and Aveline.  He was an only child.  He died about 1170.
