Sibyl was born before 1339.  Sibyl's father was William de Montagu, 1st Earl of Salisbury and her mother was Katherine de Grandison.  Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>; her maternal grandfather was William Grandison, 1st Lord Grandison. She had two brothers and a sister, named John, William and Elizabeth.  She was the youngest of the four children.
