Romanus' father was Constantine Porphyrogenitus VII, Emperor of Constantinople. His paternal grandfather was Leo (the Wise) VI, Emperor of Constantinople. He was an only child. He died in 0963.General Notes
He held the office of Co-regent of Constantinople in 945. He succeeded to the title of Emperor Romanus II of Constantinople in 959.
