Stanley was born on August 18th, 1918 in Highland County, Ohio. Stanley's father was Arnold Glenn Wilkin and his mother was Leone Fettro. His paternal grandparents were Augustus Elmore Wilkin and Mary Elizabeth Fawley. He had a sister named Elizabeth. He was the older of the two children.
