Sir Maurice (the Resolute) de Berkeley 
Maurice, known as the Resolute, was born in 1218. The Resolute's father was Thomas (the Observer) de Berkeley and his mother was Joan de Somery. His paternal grandparents were Maurice (the Make Peace) FitzRobert FitzHarding de Berkeley and Alice de Berkeley; his maternal grandparents were Sir Ralph de Somery and Margaret Marshal. He was an only child. He died at the age of 63 on April 4th, 1281. He was buried in St. Augustine's, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.General Notes
He fought in the French Wars. He was invested as a Knight before 1242. He gained the title of Lord de Berkeley [feudal baron] in 1243. On 14 December 1243 he had livery of his father's lands. He fought in the war in North Wales. In 1264 he joined the Barons against King Henry III.
