Richard's father was Sir Thomas le Despenser and his mother was Constance Langley (Plantagenet). His maternal grandparents were Edmund of Langley Duke of York, Earl of Cambridge and Isabella de Castilla. He had a sister named Isabel. He had a half-sister named Eleanor. He died in 1414.General Notes
