Hugh Audley 1st Earl of Lancaster 
Hugh was born about 1289. Hugh's father was Hugh Audley, 1st Lord Audley and his mother was Isolde de Mortimer. His paternal grandparents were James of Aldithley and Ela Longespee; his maternal grandparents were Sir Edmund de Mortimer 1st Lord Mortimer of Stratton Audley and Margaret de Fiennes. He had a sister named Alice. He was the older of the two children. He died on November 10th, 1347.General Notes
In 1321/1322 Hugh Audley joined the insurrection of the Earl of Lancaster along with his father, but was pardoned. He held the office of Ambassador to France in 1341. On his death, the title of Earl of Gloucester was considered to be extinct. He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.
