Elinor was born about 1691 in Lancaster County, Virginia.  Elinor's father was Abraham Currell and her mother was Rebecca Horton.  Her paternal grandparents were Teague Currell and Ellinore; her maternal grandparents were Tobias Horton and Elizabeth Flowers. She had four brothers named Abraham, James, Isaac and Jacob. She had two half-brothers named Nicholas and William.
