William was born in 1706 in King and Queen County, Virginia.  William's father was Edward Herndon and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Waller.  His paternal grandparents were William Herndon and Catherine Digges; his maternal grandparents are Dr. John Waller and <Unknown>. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Edward, Richard, David, James, Anne, Martha and Herndon.  He was the third oldest of the nine children. He had a half-sister named Esther.  He died at the age of 77 in 1783 in King and Queen County, Virginia.

William's family

William and Ann were married in a religious ceremony in 1730 in Virginia.1   They had five sons and three daughters, named Owen, Edward, Joseph, Reuben, William, Elizabeth, Lucy and Sarah.
