Stefan was born on September 25th, 1774 in Przytarnia, Bydgoszcz, Poland and his baptism took place on September 26th, 1774. His godfather was Adalberty Losinski and his godmother was Dorothea Rogalowa. Stefan's father was Stanislaus Korynta and his mother was Marianna. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Martin, Joseph, Elizabeth and Franciszca. He was the second oldest of the five children.
