Samuel was born on November 24th, 1807 in Indiana.  Samuel's father was David McKee and his mother was Lydia Billings. He had five brothers and a sister, named Eli, Edmond, Thomas, Joseph, Simon and Rebecca.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 73 on April 22nd, 1881 in Napoleon, Ripley County, Indiana.  He was buried in Baptist Cemetery, Napoleon, Jackson Township, Ripley County, Indiana.
