Berengaria was born in 1276.  Berengaria's father was King Edward I ("Longshanks") of England and her mother was Eleanor Ponthieu of Castile and Leon.  Her paternal grandparents were King Henry III of England and Eleanor of Provence. She had five brothers and ten sisters, named Joan, John, Henry, Alfonso, Edward, Eleanor, Katherine, Joan, Margaret, Mary, Isabella, Alice, Elizabeth, Beatrice and Blanche.  She was the eighth youngest of the sixteen children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thomas, Edmund and Eleanor.  She died at the age of 3 in 1279.
