Sarah was born on August 1st, 1657 in Boston, Massachusetts.  Sarah's father was Thomas Scotto and her mother was Joan Sanford.  Her paternal grandmother was Thomasine. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, Thomas, Joshua, Mehitable and Thomasine.  She was the second youngest of the seven children.
