Gideon Medaris 
Gideon was born about 1853 in Ohio. Gideon's father was George Washington Medaris and his mother was Matilda Ann McDavitt. His paternal grandparents were Oliver Medaris and Wilmuth Redmond. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Zachariah, Charles, Thomas, Chemiah, Eli, Manerva, Ruth and Martha. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He had six half-brothers and six half-sisters, named William, Oliver, Elijah, Levi, Jesse, George, Synthia, Hester, Lib, Elizabeth, Matilda and Mary.-
