John D. Ridings 
John was born on March 19th, 1847 in Hollowtown, Clay twp, Highland County, Ohio. John's father was Samuel Mathias Ridings and his mother was Catherine Ambrose. His paternal grandparents were Dr. Peter Joseph Ridings and Mary Brotherton; his maternal grandparents were Rev. William Hanby Ambrose and Susanna B. Crum. He had nine brothers and a sister, named William, George, Peter, Christian, Louis, Samuel, Jacob, Joseph, James and Mary. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 74 on January 6th, 1922 in Buford, Highland County, Ohio.1 General Notes
