Jesse was born about 1773.1   Jesse's father was Joseph Herndon and his mother was Polly Elliott.  His paternal grandparents were William Herndon and Ann Drysdale. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Reuben, Randolph, Elliott, Hearndon, George, Amy, Rhoda and Mary. He had eight half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Joseph, David, Thompson, John, Elisha, Robert, Lewis, James, Susanna, Sarah, Jane and Ann.

Jesse's family

Jesse and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony on June 28th, 1804.  They had a son and three daughters, named Jesse, Sophronia, Mary and Elizabeth.
