Reuben was born on September 25th, 1765 in Goochland, Virginia.1   Reuben's father was Joseph Herndon and his mother was Polly Elliott.  His paternal grandparents were William Herndon and Ann Drysdale. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Randolph, Elliott, Jesse, Hearndon, George, Amy, Rhoda and Mary. He had eight half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Joseph, David, Thompson, John, Elisha, Robert, Lewis, James, Susanna, Sarah, Jane and Ann.  He died at the age of 90 in 1855 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

Reuben's family

Reuben and Hannah were married in a religious ceremony on November 27th, 1792 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.  They had nine sons and two daughters, named Joseph, George, Jesse, Elliott, Elisha, Moses, Aaron, David, Reuben, Sarah and Anna.
