Alma was born on March 25th, 1892 in Woodbine, Kansas.  Alma's father was William Moritz Schuermann and her mother was Louisa Freitag.  Her paternal grandparents were William Schuermann and Gertrude Blumbach. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Carl, William, Theodore, George, Clarence, Leota and Myrtle.  She died at the age of 84 in December 1976.
