Carl was born on October 31st, 1884 in Woodbine, Kansas.  Carl's father was William Moritz Schuermann and his mother was Louisa Freitag.  His paternal grandparents were William Schuermann and Gertrude Blumbach. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William, Theodore, George, Clarence, Alma, Leota and Myrtle.  He died at the age of 90 on May 23rd, 1975 in Medford, Oklahoma.
