Jacob was born about 1849 in Ohio.1   Jacob's father was Henry Seibert and his mother was Rosannah Ambrose.  His maternal grandparents were Jacob Ambrose and Elizabeth. He had six brothers and a sister, named Philander, George, Malcomb, Samuel, Charles, Newton and Mary.  He was the second oldest of the eight children.
