Catherine (Kate) Van Valkenburgh

Three Sisters

Catherine, known as Kate, was born on March 11th, 1825 in Prattsburg, Steuben County, New York. Kate's father was Jacob Van Valkenburgh and her mother was Mary (Polly) Bethia Higgins. Her paternal grandparents were Bartholomeus Van Valkenburgh and Catherine Pruyn; her maternal grandparents were David Higgins and Eunice Gilbert. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named Robert, David, Bartholomew, Lucius, Franklin, Gerrit, George, Edward, George, Gertrude and Mary. She was the third oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 46 on July 7th, 1871 in Racine, Wisconsin.
