Sylvester Perry Medaris 
Sylvester was born in August 1846 in Shelby County, Ohio. Sylvester's father was David Tuttle Medaris and his mother was Rebecca Frazier. His paternal grandparents were Abraham Medaris and Charity Ellsworth. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John, Joseph, Thomas, Calvin, Mary, Sarah and Charity. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.General Notes
In 1900 Sylvester and Abbie were living on a rented farm in Pottawatomie Township, Franklin County, Kansas. The only child still at home was Charles who also worked on the farm. Sylvester and Abbie had been married for 27 years and had four children, 3 of them still living. In 1910 Sylvester, Abbie and son Charles were living in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas.
