Mary Bethia Higgins Van Valkenburgh

Three Sisters

Mary was born on June 25th, 1829 in Prattsburg, Steuben County, New York. Mary's father was Jacob Van Valkenburgh and her mother was Mary (Polly) Bethia Higgins. Her paternal grandparents were Bartholomeus Van Valkenburgh and Catherine Pruyn; her maternal grandparents were David Higgins and Eunice Gilbert. She had nine brothers and two sisters, named Robert, David, Bartholomew, Lucius, Franklin, Gerrit, George, Edward, George, Kate and Gertrude. She was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. She died at the age of 63 on May 9th, 1893 in Chicago, Illinois. She was buried in White Lake, Michigan.
