Margaret was born about 1823.1 Margaret's father was Jacob Ambrose and her mother was Elizabeth. Her paternal grandfather was William Henry Ambrose and her paternal grandmother is Sarah. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Peter, John, Jacob, William, Mary and Rosannah. She was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
