Susannah was born about 1820 in Highland County, Ohio.  Susannah's father was Joseph Creek and her mother was Susannah Gibler. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Joseph, Levi, West, David, William, Catherine, Phebe, Lydia, Julia Ann and Helen.  She was the second youngest of the eleven children.
