Charles was born in June 1881 in Illinois.  Charles' father was Carl Reese and his mother was Bormei (Minnie). He had four brothers and four sisters, named William, August, John, Edward, Emma, Minnie, Meta and Anna.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
