Meta was born in June 1887 in Kansas.  Meta's father was Carl Reese and her mother was Bormei (Minnie). She had five brothers and three sisters, named William, August, John, Edward, Charles, Emma, Minnie and Anna.  She was the second youngest of the nine children.
