Thibaud, known as the Great, was born on April 2nd, 1093 in Blois, France.  The Great's father was Comte Stephen Henry de Blois II and his mother was Adela de Normandie Plantagenet.  His paternal grandparents were Comte Thibaud de Blois III and Gersende de Maine; his maternal grandparents were King William I “the Conqueror” Plantagenet, of England and Matilda of Flanders. He had a brother named Stephen.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 56 on January 8th, 1150 in Ligny et Barrois, Meuse, France.
